[15:30]<@BC_Programming> SUP PEEPS
[15:30]<Nat> sup dawg
[15:31]<+camerongray> hey BC_Programming & Nat
[15:32]<Nat> how's it going?
[15:33]<+camerongray> Coursework hell! Yourself?
[15:33]<@BC_Programming> Lucky me getting a programming job without post secondary huh?
[15:34]<+camerongray> haha
[15:34]<+camerongray> I already had one!
[15:34]<+camerongray> Uni was free and may make things easier if I look for a new job down the line though :P
[15:35]<Nat> camerongray: same same!
[15:35]<Nat> gonna rock this CS midterm
[15:36]<@BC_Programming> Free Uni I hate you
[15:36]<@BC_Programming> :P
[15:36]<Nat> BC_Programming: aren't you in Canada?
[15:36]<@BC_Programming> Yes
[15:36]<Nat> huh, i thought uni was free in Canada for whatever reason
[15:37]<Nat> actually, i should know that it isn't
[15:37]<Nat> sorry, ignorant American here
[15:39]<+camerongray> hehe
[15:39]<Nat> camerongray: what are you studying? CS?
[15:39]<+camerongray> Yeha
[15:39]<+camerongray> 3rd year
[15:40]<@BC_Programming> Yeah it's not free unfortunately, I don't know how much cheaper it is if at all over the U.S but I know people need to either take out a loan or have a fund
[15:40]<+camerongray> yeah, I wouldn't do it if I was having to pay £9000 a year (which is the cost of my course)
[15:41]<@BC_Programming> camerongray what do you think of this idea- I buy a camcorder right- then I buy a macbook and do a unboxing and a review lol
[15:41]<@BC_Programming> I've never actually used one so that should be hilarious
[15:42]<Nat> man, i wish Apple didn't keep screwing up the hardware
[15:42]<+camerongray> haha
[15:42]<+camerongray> If Apple made a ThinkPad I'd pay a fortune for it
[15:43]<Nat> seriously, the OS is nice midway between ease-of-use with the UI and the power of a UNIX console. but there's no way i can justify the price.
[15:43]<+camerongray> As in a rugged machine with a good keyboard, pointing stick and loads of expansion
[15:43]<+camerongray> Price isn't too bad when you compare to other top end machines such as Dell XPSs or business systems
[15:43]<@BC_Programming> I liked their "classic" Mac OS from a usability perspective, though from a technical perspective it was a mess
[15:43]<Nat> fortunately, the company i worked for in the summer paid for this computer so i'm happy :)
[15:43]<+camerongray> But the hardware just doesn't do it for me as well as a ThinkPad
[15:44]<+camerongray> I love Mac OS X though - It's a UNIX system that just works
[15:44]<Nat> yeah, who thought using a soft metal was a good idea?
[15:44]<Nat> aluminum? PERFECT every time you touch the computer too roughly it'll dent!
[15:44]<Nat> GREAT
[15:44]<+camerongray> Yeah, I got a MacBook Pro in 2012 but ended up getting a ThinkPad for carrying to uni since I was so worried about damaging it
[15:44]<@BC_Programming> Weren't thinkpads at one point constructed with a Magnesium body?
[15:45]<+camerongray> I still have the Mac since I got it for my 18th Birthday so I'd want to keep it, but I don't use it that much
[15:45]<Nat> BC_Programming: i THINK so
[15:45]<+camerongray> yeah, they still largely are
[15:45]<+camerongray> Mine has a magnesium base and carbon fibre lid
[15:45]<Nat> camerongray: if i had an extra laptop i'd do the same
[15:45]<Nat> but i don't so i'm just super careful always O.o
[15:45]<@BC_Programming> oh cool, I'm pretty sure the one I used to have was... shame the battery farted all over the insides
[15:47]<Nat> BC_Programming: why you getting a MacBook?
[15:47]<@BC_Programming> It was just an idea
[15:47]<Nat> ah
[15:48]<@BC_Programming> There are three pay days next month and I have literally zero expenses or bills that aren't paid up so I will likely end up getting something
[15:48]<Nat> i'm also dubious about the only one port thing, but i was skeptical about getting rid of the CD driver and its honestly not too bad
[15:48]<@BC_Programming> If nothing else a bigger bank account lol
[15:48]<Nat> *CD drive
[15:49]<Nat> i am excited about USB Type-C connectors though
[15:50]<@BC_Programming> how good is a thinkpad T410? I'm seeing it on ebay with a buy it now price of around 200 CDN
[15:50]<Nat> brb
[15:50] * Nat (nathan@mib-6A029757.airbears2.berkeley.edu) Quit (Client exited)
[15:52]<+camerongray> Not bad but a bit on the old side
[15:52]<+camerongray> I'd go for at least T420, probably a T430
[15:55] * Nat (nathan@mib-6A029757.airbears2.berkeley.edu) has joined #glitchpc
[15:55]<@BC_Programming> I'd buy more computer books but I've not even opened Code Complete and only read like the first chapter of Clean Code
[15:59]<Nat> i'd be interested in reading more theory-like books
[17:05]<Quantos> So what about that 28" 4k monitor you've been wanting BC?
[17:05]<@BC_Programming> I don't think I ever mentioned a 4K monitor
[17:06]<@BC_Programming> I doubt I could drive one properly without a second 770GTX
[17:30]<+camerongray> I don't really feel the need for 4k myself since I would just have to scale it
[17:31]<+camerongray> For me, dual 1440p is perfect - Usable without any scaling, doesn't push my GPU too hard, loads of screen space
[17:31]<@BC_Programming> Dual 1440 is an idea actually
[17:36] * Nat (nathan@mib-6A029757.airbears2.berkeley.edu) Quit (Client exited)

[18:04]<+camerongray> BC_Programming: Yep, works great!
[18:05]<@BC_Programming> Of course I don't think I could fit two 1440p monitors on this desk
[18:15]<+camerongray> Get an arm :P

[18:39]<Quantos> I was trying to be a smartass BC, but you saw right through it
[18:40]<@BC_Programming> I guess realistically I'll wait until my bank account bloats and see what happens
[20:27]<Quantos> I can't wait to hear what you're gonna spend it on
[20:27]<@BC_Programming> Dildos
[20:28]<@BC_Programming> lol

[22:00]<Quantos> Cool, vibrating or solid?
[22:00]<@BC_Programming> heh
